Getting Started

What is Tsingpu?

Tsingpu is a premier Chinese cultural retreat brand founded by renowned investor and poet Wang Gongquan. The name "Tsingpu" is derived from the Tibetan word meaning "the origin." We are dedicated to providing a semi-private humanistic experience and leisure space, allowing guests to immerse themselves in authentic local culture and history. Each retreat offers over 20 curated cultural activities led by local masters, scholars, and artisans.

What is the standard package?

Our standard offer is a 3-day/2-night all-inclusive package. This includes accommodation for 2 guests sharing 1 room, all meals, unlimited drinks (coffee, tea, fresh juice, mineral water, and local beer), and all programmed cultural activities.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

All EastLang follow the same standard schedule:

  • Check-out time: 12:00 (12:00 PM)

Our Retreats & Locations

Where are EastLang located?

We have five unique retreats across China, each steeped in local culture and heritage:

  1. Tsingpu Tulou Retreat (Fujian): Located in Taxia Village, Nanjing County. A converted Hakka earthen building complex.
  2. Tsingpu Yangzhou Retreat (Jiangsu): Located beside the picturesque Slender West Lake. A modern city wall constructed from 1.2 million antique bricks.
  3. Tsingpu Suzhou Retreat (Jiangsu): Located in Mudu Town. A historic garden villa, the former residence of "Suzhou Embroidery Empress" Shen Shou.
  4. Tsingpu Baisha Retreat (Yunnan): Located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang. A Japanese and Naxi architectural fusion.
  5. Tsingpu Badaling Retreat (Hebei): Located in Huailai, near Beijing. A Tuscan-style retreat surrounded by vineyards.

How many rooms does each retreat have?

  • Tulou: 24-26 guest rooms
  • Yangzhou: 20 guest rooms
  • Suzhou: 8 themed guest rooms
  • Baisha: 19 guest rooms
  • Badaling: 15 guest rooms

Note: All rooms feature a study, living area, super king-size bed, large bath tub, and separate shower/toilet. Maximum occupancy is 3 persons per room.

How do I get to each retreat?

  • Tulou Retreat: Fly to Xiamen Airport (2.5-hour drive) or take the high-speed train to Nanjing Station (50-minute drive).
  • Yangzhou Retreat: Fly to Nanjing Airport (1.5-hour drive) or take the high-speed train to Yangzhou East Station.
  • Suzhou Retreat: Fly to Shanghai Airport (under 2-hour drive) or take the high-speed train to Suzhou North Station (50-minute drive).
  • Baisha Retreat: Fly to Lijiang Airport (1-hour drive).
  • Badaling Retreat: Drive from Beijing downtown (1.5 hours) or from Badaling Great Wall (20-minute drive).

Experiences & Activities

What kind of activities can I do?

Each retreat offers a unique set of cultural experiences. Examples include:

  • Tulou (Fujian): Sour citrus tea making, bamboo shoot hunting, paper cutting, and wood painting.
  • Yangzhou (Jiangsu): Silver inlay, seal carving, Chinese zither music, and fan making.
  • Suzhou (Jiangsu): Suzhou embroidery, bamboo carving, Biluochun green tea making, and Pingtan storytelling.
  • Baisha (Yunnan): Naxi wedding ceremony, Dongba pictograph writing, Hike to Wenfeng Monastery, and bonfire celebration.
  • Badaling (Hebei): Silver inlay, Peking opera mask coloring, wet plate photography, and wine tasting.

Who leads these activities?

Activities are led by local masters, scholars, craftsmen, and experts in cultural heritage. We do not use local guides or travel companies; instead, we invite authentic experts to provide you with a genuine and deep cultural immersion.

Are there free-time and leisure options?

Yes. Beyond the programmed activities, you can enjoy our retreats' public spaces at your own pace. This includes private art galleries, quaint tea rooms, yoga studios, libraries, gardens, and walking paths.

Dining & Cuisine

What is included in the meal package?

Your stay provides you with an all-inclusive meal package. This covers all meals and offers unlimited drinks, including coffee, tea, fresh juice, mineral water, and local beer.

What kind of food is served?

We use the freshest, organic ingredients to create a specially designed menu for each season, offering you the most authentic regional flavors.

  • Tulou: Authentic Fujian/Hakka cuisine by Executive Chef Mars Liu (formerly of Raffles Hotel).
  • Yangzhou: Authentic Huaiyang cuisine by Executive Chef Mars Liu.
  • Suzhou: Authentic Suzhou cuisine.
  • Baisha: Authentic Yunnan cuisine (e.g., Naxi barbecue, seasonal mushrooms).
  • Badaling: A mix of Chinese and Western cuisine by Chefs Mars Liu and David Zhao.

Can the menu accommodate dietary restrictions (e.g., Halal, vegetarian)?

Yes. While the menu is seasonal and local, we can accommodate special dietary requirements. Please inform our team at the time of booking, and we will do our best to adjust the menu for you.

What is Eastlang, and how does it relate to Tsingpu?

Eastlang is a separate brand offering boutique, small-group tours (6-8 persons) with a focus on "butler service + full-time photographer = emotional value travel."
