The EastLang Suzhou Retreat, located in the historic Mudu Town, has been honored with the prestigious 18th Andrew Martin Interior Design Award. The retreat, a meticulous restoration of the former residence of Shen Shou, the legendary “Empress of Suzhou Embroidery,” features only 8 themed guest rooms named after classic Chinese cultural elements: Qin, Chess, Calligraphy, Painting, Melody, Wine, Tea, Flower, and Incense. The award-winning design by renowned architect Liang Jianguo preserved the original Suzhou-style garden structure without any expansion, using local materials and traditional techniques. This recognition underscores EastLang’s commitment to cultural preservation. The retreat offers an all-inclusive experience starting at RMB 4,576, including sessions in Suzhou embroidery and Biluochun tea making. It joins the brand’s portfolio of five unique locations, which includes the Neri & Hu-designed Yangzhou Retreat and the Japanese-Naxi fusion Baisha Retreat.
